A 35-foot-tall statue Chatrapati Shivaji statue was inaugurated by the PMO of India last year on the event of Navy Day to celebrate the Legecy of Maratha warrior and Maharaj towards maritime defense and security, and its historical linkage with the modern Indian Navy.
The collapse of the statue is a big blow to Eknath Shinde-led state government respect. Opposition is ready to devour the Government for its mistake because this isn't a small case as Chatrapati Shivaji is literally worshiped in Maharashtra and the statue collapse also means that there are major flaws and carlessness in the Maharashtra government.
Congress chief Nana Patole claimed that RSS has closed ties with sculptor Jaydeep Apte which was the response to the statement of state cultural affairs minister Sudhir Mungantiwar who said the sculpture was close to Rahul Gandhi. Maha Vikas Aghadi has accused the state Government of corruption in the statue construction and asked Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to resign.
Opposition is also saying that it's an insult to the Maratha king and Congress asked Narendra Modi to apologize for the incident. The state government is silent on the issue for now.
