ED Conducts Raids Across Maharashtra and Gujarat in Investigation Into Navin Chichkar’s Alleged Drug
Drug kingpin Chichkar was arrested on July 17 and his arrest was confirmed by the Tamil Nadu State Advisory Board, with which he has been arrested for one year from the date of arrest.
In a bid to “disrupte” an organised narcotics network operating across Maharashtra and abroad, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Mumbai got the name Navin Gurunath Chichkar arrested under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PITNDPS) Act, 1988.
Chichkar has been imprisoned for one year from the date of his detention after confirmation of detention order by the Tamil Nadu State Advisory Board. The confirmation was made via August 13, 2026.

On May 15, the Joint Secretary (PITNDPS), Government of India had issued an order to have Chichkar transferred from Yerwada Central Jail in Pune to Puzhal Central Prison in Chennai on June 16.
The NCB says Chichkar was originally registered a case under the NDPS in Mumbai in 2021 and he had been a regular criminal. He has been connected to foreign suppliers and trafficking networks, especially in Thailand and the United States.
The agency has mentioned a host of big drug stashes that Chichkar is allegedly involved in. These are the arrest of 336 LSD blotters and 4.9 kg of ganja that was seized in the NCB Mumbai case in 2021, 200 gram of cocaine allegedly sent to Australia in 2025 and a major seizure of 11.54 kg of cocaine and 4.9 kg of ganja and 200 packets of cannabis jelly gummies in 2025.
He was also wanted in a case against him for possession of ghaatam. He's also wanted in a case filed against him for ghaatam possession by the Anti-Narcotics Cell, Navi Mumbai.
The NCB says that Chichkar was behind air-cargo consignment and drug couriers' movements of large quantities of cocaine and ganja into Mumbai. AInterpol Red Notice alert was issued for him, and his international trail brought investigators to Malaysia.
The money investigation has also infuriated his supposed drug syndicate. The NCB said it had seized movable and immovable assets, which were worth over ₹10 crore, and were alleged to have been acquired from drug money. This freezing of assets was later considered by SAFEMA authorities in Mumbai.
Chichkar's international connections and alleged capacity to keep on committing crimes made it imperative to have him detained to ensure that he will not be able to commit any further offences, the agency said.
The NCB is putting up a blot on the police agency's record in its campaign against repeat offenders and organised drug trafficking, reiterating its pledge in the government's “Nasha Mukt Bharat by 2047" mission.
