Dabur’s Karwa Chauth ad row- The company takes down ad with the lesbian couple after MP minister’s warning
Dabur India Limited withdrew the advertisement and showed an apology for showing a lesbian couple celebrating the Hindu festival of Karwa Chauth.
On Tuesday, Dabur India Limited withdrew the advertisement and showed an apology for showing a lesbian couple celebrating the Hindu festival of Karwa Chauth. This comes a day after Madhya Pradesh home minister Naroottam Mishra showed his strong objection against Fem’s Karwachauth campaign and told that legal actions would be taken if the ad is not taken by the consumer's goods maker.
The company posted on Twitter, Fem’s Karwachauth campaign has been withdrawn from all social media handles and we unconditionally apologize for unintentionally hurting people’s sentiments. Mishra told reporters, I consider this a serious matter. More so because such advertisements and clippings are made on the rituals of Hindu festivals only. They showed lesbians celebrating Karva Chauth and seeing each other through a sieve. In the future, they will show two men taking feras. This is objectionable.
