He is known for his roles in films such as Gokram Rosita, Swagatam, Toriprema, Tamdu, Badri, Kushi, Jarsa, Gabersin, Goparagopara, and Atalinticida Lady.
In addition to being the leader of Yuvarajyam, the youth branch of Chiranjeevi's Praja Rajyam Party, Pawan Kalyan also suffered a sunstroke during the party's election campaign.
As Chiranjeevi merged his party with the Congress in 2011, Kalyan resigned from politics. In 2014, he founded the Jana Sena Party, named after his book Ism.
He supported the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and BJP alliance in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, leading rallies against Congress party control.
Kalyan announced in 2016 that Jana Sena would run unaligned in each of Andhra Pradesh's 175 legislative districts in 2019.
Kalyan led protest marches against the Dredging Corporation of India (DCI), marched on Rajahmundry's Dowleswaram Barrage, and allegedly revealed unrestricted mining in the Vanthada village of Prathipadu.
YSR Congress Party candidates defeated his party in the 2019 Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections. As of 2020, Kalyan's party has joined forces with the BJP, and they will run together in 2024. In the case of Sugali Preethi, a 15-year-old girl who was raped and killed in Kurnool, he led a rally calling for a CBI investigation.
