‘Accept Putin’s Deal Or…’: Trump Shouts, Curses, Throws Maps in Fiery Meeting With Zelenskyy
According to the reports Trump shouted, swore, and threw maps in his bid to lure Zelenskyyy into accepting the terms of Vladimir Putin or face destruction by Russia.
During a stormy White House meeting, the US President Donald Trump allegedly requested the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to accept the Russian President Vladimir Putin terms to wring the war, or Moscow would destroy Ukraine.
As a report by the Financial Times quotes, quoting officials, the exchange ended up being a shouting match, with Trump throwing vulgar insults and throwing temper tantrums, including disposing of maps of the Ukrainian front line.
Take the offer and get destroyed, Trump informs Zelenskyyy
At the meeting, Trump is reported to have urged Zelenskyy to give up the whole of Donbas to Russia, almost the same line held by the Russian leader. “Putin told me it’s a special operation, not even a war," Trump reportedly said, urging Zelenskyy to “cut a deal or face destruction."

European officials listening to the conversation would say that the US leader was accusing Putin of repeating his arguments in a call the day before and that he appeared to be repeating the Russian leader.. Although Trump had previously publicly said that the Russian economy was on the verge of collapsing, he apparently gave glorifying remarks at the meeting, saying that Moscow was "doing great."
They said that the unstable position of the US President shocked Zelenskyy and frustrated his staff. The Ukrainian president who had entered into an agreement with Washington to get the long-range Tomahawk cruise missiles in the form of long-range missiles came back with no handshakes following the refusal of the request by Trump.
The strained session came to a boil when Trump allegedly threw away maps of the battlefield in Ukraine and claimed that he was tired of looking at them, pointing out that he was sick and tired of seeing them.“This red line – I don’t even know where this is. I’ve never been there," he reportedly exclaimed, brushing off the efforts of Zelenskyy to describe the military situation.
According to Financial Times, the incident exposed the unpredictable nature of the Trump approach towards the war, alternating between his demand of peace and submission to the maximalist demands of Putin. It was also a reminder of the fear among the allies of the US that Trump might adopt the sovereignity of Ukraine during future negotiations.
The proposal of Putin and the rejection of Ukrainians
According to reports, Putin has offered to have Ukraine give up the rest of Donbas under its control, in return Ukraine would receive only limited territory in Kherson and Zaporizhzhia. The proposal is viewed as a watered down version of the offer Putin gave in their previous meeting in Alaska, which, too, did not conclude with a pleasant result.
Nonetheless, the officials of Ukraine have disqualified any agreement. According to Oleksandr Merezhko, the head of foreign affairs committee in parliamentary Ukraine, he said,“To give the Donbas to Russia without a fight is unacceptable for Ukrainian society, and Putin knows that. It’s about dividing and destroying us from within."
The aggressive approach taken by Trump and an apparent support of his logic by Putin has shaken the European allies of Ukraine.
Trump informed Fox News that he is still confident in his ability to brokered the peace, his support of the territorial aspiration of Putin has just increased the suspicion over his diplomatic style.
Zelenskyy reprimanded in turn on Sunday, and demanded decisive action on the part of the United States, the G7, and G20 countries, saying it only encouraged Moscow to continue its aggression through wavering support to its allies.
Nevertheless, the Ukrainian officials have not chosen such an agreement. According to Oleksandr Merezhko, the head of foreign affairs committee in parliament, Ukraine, said, “To give the Donbas to Russia without a fight is unacceptable for Ukrainian society, and Putin knows that. It’s about dividing and destroying us from within."
