Amarnath Yatra 2024 Begins: Devotees Start Sacred Journey to Holy Cave
Amarnath Yatra 2024: Amarnath Cave Temple holds huge spiritual significance as it draws a huge number of visitors every year. It is considered as one of the greatest shrines of Lord Shiva in Hindu mythology.

Amarnath Yatra 2024 Begins: Amarnath Yatra is a very important day for Hindus as it is dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva. It is an annual pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave which is situated in the Ganderbal district at an altitude of 3,888 meters in Jammu and Kashmir.
The pilgrimage began on Saturday from the Baltal base camp with a large group of devotees as they marched towards the Shri Amarnath Cave Temple.
It is a 52-day-long journey that began on June 29 and will end on August 19, the register for the Amarnath Yatra began on April 15 and the first group has already left for the Amarnath cave.
This year, around 3.50 lakh people have signed up for the Amarnath Yatra which is 12,756 feet above sea level and considered as a very difficult journey.

While on the Amarnath Yatra journey, the devotees keep on chanting "Bum Bum Bhole," "Jai Baba Burfani," and "Har Har Mahadev,” with the sound of conch bells as they walk towards one of the holiest Lord Shiva shrines, Shri Amarnath Cave Temple.
On Friday, around 4,000 pilgrims arrived in the Kashmir valley despite tight security arrangements.
Amarnath cave is situated above the Pahalgam, the devotees have to trek 46 km to reach the destination.
As the pilgrimage makes their way to the shrine, they feast their eyes on beautiful views along the way including Chandanwari, Sheshnag, and Panchtarni.
However, a three-tier system has been put up that includes area dominance, route deployment, and checkpoints to ensure that the journey goes smoothly and safely.
