Zomato Renamed ‘Eternal’: Company Unveils New Logo and Brand Identity | Surprises Food Delivery App Users
Deepinder Goyal, in a letter to shareholders, stated that the board of the company has approved the name change and requested shareholders to cooperate in this change.

Zomato Renamed ‘Eternal’: Zomato, the food and grocery delivery service, announced on Thursday that it will change the name to "Eternal" and unveil a new logo more than two years after the Deepinder Goyal-led company had started using its new name internally.
In a letter to the shareholders, Deepinder Goyal mentioned that the board has approved the name change and wishes for the shareholders to support it as well.

“If and when it is approved, our corporate website will transition from zomato.com to eternal.com. We will also change our stock ticker from ZOMATO to ETERNAL. Eternal will comprise four major businesses (as of now) – Zomato, Blinkit, District, and Hyperpure,” Deepinder Goyal said in the letter.
“We would like to inform that the board of directors of the company vide resolution dated February 6, 2025, have approved the change in the name of the company from ‘Zomato Ltd’ to ‘Eternal Ltd’," the company said in the filing. “This isn’t just a name change; it is a mission statement. A reminder etched into our identity that we will endure — not because we are here, but because we need to get there," he said.He recalled how Foodiebay changed its name to Zomato after 17 years of the company's founding of 2007 and became the first Indian startup to be listed on the Sensex. Zomato got listed on the BSE Sensex on December 23 last year.
“This journey has created tremendous wealth — not just for me, but for our employees, institutional investors, and retail shareholders. But I did not start Zomato to make money. I started it because I wanted to do something worthwhile with my life. One weekend, I went around town, collected takeaway menus, and uploaded them onto a website — purely in the spirit of service. I never thought it could be a business. I wasn’t looking for revenue. I was simply trying to be helpful,” Deepinder Goyal said in his letter.

‘Eternal’ being used internally since 2 years
Upon Zomato acquiring Blinkit, the company began to use "Eternal" internally to establish a distinction between the company and the brand/app, Deepinder Goyal stated.
“We also thought that we would publicly rename the company to Eternal, the day something beyond Zomato became a significant driver of our future, he wrote, adding that, ”Today, with Blinkit, I feel we are there."
“We would like to rename Zomato Ltd., the company (not the brand/app), to Eternal Ltd…. Eternal is a powerful name, and to be honest, it scares me to my core. It is a tall order to live up to. Because ‘Eternal’ carries both a promise and a paradox. True permanence isn’t built on bold claims of invincibility or the swagger of success,” Deepinder Goyal added.
Social Media Users Surprised By Zomato Name Change
“Kya bhai kyu naam badal rhe ho. My mom likes Zomato. It’s a bit difficult to say Eternal," said one user.
“Zomato aacha naam tha yaaaarr! Eternal Mai vo baat nahi hai. Aaj se Swiggy use karuga," another user said. Another individual said, “I guess wrong move. Zomato is positioned itself in the market so well why change it?"
