World Heritage Day came into existence first in 1982 by The International Council for Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS). In 1983, during the 22nd General Meeting the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization approved it.
All architects, engineers, artists, geographers, and archaeologists from all over the world come together at ICOMOS to honor and preserve these historical monuments. The main motto of World Heritage Day is to unite and protect our global treasures. It also acts as a day to spread awareness among the people about the significance of these Cultural legacies.
After being approved, it was decided that April 18 to be the day to celebrate World Heritage Day when the ICOMOS was formed. ICOMOS has received almost 10,000 members from over 150 countries since its foundation.

Significance
