He introduced the idea of Bicycle Day in a campaign in front of 193 members from different states, however, his idea was acknowledged by everyone present there. In 2018, The United Nations General Assembly on June announced World Bicycle Day which will be celebrated every year on June 3.
It has been more than 200 years since the bicycle was introduced and the first bicycles “Dandy horses’ were made in the early 1800s.
The motive of this day is to raise awareness among people of the benefits of riding, such as its ability to improve education, build tolerance, fight disease, promote physical activity and many others.

Midnight Cycling Captivates Mumbaikars
This year the theme of World Bicycle Day is "Promoting Health, Equity, and Sustainability through Cycling."
However, Mumbai is very famous for its midnight bicycling rides, a group of bicycle riders enjoy bicycle rides in Mumbai at late hours.
A member of Mulund Riders Club says, “We ride everywhere from Dadar to Worli Sea Face and Gateway of India. These nightly trails are becoming more popular you have no traffic jams or commuters and it’s also not hot.”
Midnight cycling group leader, Digvijay Singh Rathore, says that Ten years ago, there were only two-midnight cycling groups in Mumbai but now there are about 300 cycling groups.
"We love riding to well-known spots for ice cream and cameras in the summer," says Kamiya Shaikh, a software engineer from Navi Mumbai.
