Wickremesinghe Comments on Hasina Ouster: Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe said that Bangladesh needs to attain its stability as soon as possible after the fall of Sheikh Hasina's government and the country’s people may decide who should and how should the country may be governed.
During an interview with Firstpost, when asked about his views on Bangladesh's situation and the demands for Hasina’s extradition, he said, “As far as Sheikh Hasina is concerned, many leaders leave their country and go live abroad, if she is out of the country — let her be out of the country. We all want Bangladesh to focus on normalcy.”
Wickremesinghe also suggested that New Delhi and Dhaka during this time of conflict especially as anti-India sentiments are increasing in neighboring countries, he said that the most crucial steps should be to bring security and normalcy to Bangladesh.

He added, “First is to get stability into Bangladesh — first give people confidence — as far as Sheikh Hasina is concerned, these are political issues. It has to be decided in such a manner… Many leaders leave their country and go abroad. They then live abroad. What I would give priority to is [to ensure] Bangladesh remains stable.”
In August, after the protest to abolish quotas in civil service jobs began violent, Hasina was forced to quit and leave Bangladesh. The protest first began in July and later on turned into a big movement.
Ranil Wickremesinghe also added that the expelled prime minister should stay in India while the country tries to sort out the problem and return back to normal.
He further added, “If Sheikh Hasina is out of the country, let her be out of the country. I think stability has to come quickly. The army may be necessary. We all want Bangladesh [to] focus on normalcy and on getting people to decide how [they] should lead the country,”
