India-Pakistan Foreign Policy Developments: Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri will be appearing before the Parliamentary Standing Committee on External Affairs, led by Shashi Tharoor, on May 19, to brief members about the recent India-Pakistan military conflict that followed the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.
The name-date multiparty committee called Misri this afternoon at four o'clock to brief them on "current foreign policy developments concerning India and Pakistan."

This follows closely after the Indian armed forces carrying out Operation Sindoor as a retaliatory strike for the Pahalgam terror incident and the subsequent military buildup between the two nations. Both nations had agreed for a ceasefire on May 10.
This shall be the first time that a senior government official shall appear before the committee and formally brief Parliament on developments following the April 22 terror strike in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which claimed 26 lives, mostly tourists.
On May 7, India launched Operation Sindoor strikes that targeted nine terrorist camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
Following these incidents, Misri had spoken to the media along with Colonel Soya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh.
The IFS officer, hailed for his diplomatic outreach, was dragged on social media after he declared the ceasefire on 10 May.

Other M.P.s of prominence on this 31-member panel are Ravi Shankar Prasad and Sudhanshu Trivedi of the BJP, Deepender Hooda of the Congress, Abhishek Banerjee of the Trinamool Congress, Asaduddin Owaisi of the AIMIM, and John Brittas of the CPI-M.
Parliamentarians are expected to engage Misri on questions about the government's diplomatic efforts after the Pahalgam attack.
Adding to this, US Prez Donald Trump purportedly claimed ceasing fire as his handiwork, using media chatter to announce his intervention in getting both sides to appear at the negotiating table, trade being held hostage in the bargain.
Misri shall also inform the committee about India's schedule for sending seven delegations to 32 countries and to the European Union in the upcoming three weeks.
These tours are intended to bring focus to Pakistan's alleged sponsorship of cross-border terrorism and to explain India's rationale behind its military action.
