‘Terrorism Will Haunt You’: S Jaishankar Cites Osama bin Laden in New Warning to Pakistan

‘Terrorism Will Haunt You’: External affairs minister S Jaishankar has once again warned the west about Pakistan backing terrorism and it will haunt them.

In an interview with Euractiv, S Jaishankar said that the rivalry between India and Pakistan was to fight terrorism. These were stated as the EAM sold the idea of EU-India free trade, stressing that India provides skilled labour and is a far more reliable partner than China.

Considering the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor, the EAM suspended Pakistan involvement in cross-border terrorism, and the financing and sheltering of extremist organizations. He warned the western nations to know that the same terrorism would one day come to haunt them.

"I want the world to understand – this isn’t merely an India–Pakistan issue. It’s about terrorism. And that very same terrorism will eventually come back to haunt you," he said the foreign media was criticized by lashing out at Operation Sindoor as a tit-for-tat between New Delhi and Islamabad.

A reminder of Osama bin Laden

In his caution to the West, Jaishankar also put in mind the seizure of al-Qaeda boss Osama bin Laden.

"Let me remind you of something – there was a man named Osama bin Laden. Why did he, of all people, feel safe living for years in a Pakistani military town, right next to their equivalent of West Point?" said Jaishankar.

On May 2, 2011, US forces killed Osama bin Laden, one of the founder of al-Qaeda, in Operation Neptune Spear.

Laden who was also deemed as one of the masterminds behind the 9/11 terror attacks in New York, fled Afghanistan to Pakistan with the assistance of the Pakistani intelligence services.
