Swara Bhasker Criticizes EVMs After Husband Fahad Ahmad’s Maharashtra Poll Defeat in 2024
Swara Bhasker, a member of the film industry and a social activist has voiced apprehension towards the vote counting issues in the constituency of Anushakti Nagar, as such Bhasker claimed that EVMs which had abnormally charged batteries were smuggled in during the counting of votes.

Swara Bhasker Criticizes EVMs: As the contest between NCP (SP) leader Fazal Ahmed and beautiful his rival contender Sanaa Malik was gaining traction, actor turned activist and wife of the leader Swara Bhasker took to making allegations of few irregularities that were detected in the Anushakti Nagar constituency assembly elections, vote counting.
Bhasker alleged that during the vote counting process conducted after the rounds which were critical and comprised of rounds 17 to 19, EVMs that claimed to be 99 percent charged were brought in, which changed the dynamics of the race in favor of the candidate who was fronted by the BJP and who was from the Ajit Pawar led faction of NCP.

Ahamad was as per preliminary trends ahead. After some time, with the victory already within sight, Malik managed to increase her pace and won the Anushaktinagar constituency by more than a 3000 vote margin.
Bhasker asked how machines which were in use throughout the whole day maintained battery levels that were so high and also accused those particular machines of unfairly boosting the vote in support of the BJP and its allies.

The incidents occur in the background of election in the state of Maharashtra which is proving to be competitive election especially for all the biggest players in the politics. The Mahayuti is confidently set to win the battle against the Maha Vikas Aghadi as it commands a lead in over 220 seats as compared to 50 odd that the latter holds.
Bhasker’s concerns have not been addressed by the election body officials, yet they have raised concern regarding the vote counting process. As the results unfold, the emphasis is also on the aspects of the process that deserve attention in order to ascertain the fairness of the outcome achieved.
