Supreme Court to Hear Justice Yashwant Varma’s Plea Against In‑House Committee Report on July 28
According to Justice Varma, the committee never gave him a fair chance to respond to these allegations prior to the publication of the findings, the ANI report.

On Monday, July 28 the Supreme Court will hear the plea by Justice Yashwant Varma, who is challenging the in-house committee report against him.
The three judge inquiry report made in house that had indicted him had also validated recovery of unaccounted cash found at the official residence of the Allahabad High Court judge.
According to Justice Varma, the committee never gave him a fair chance to respond to these allegations prior to the publication of the findings, the ANI report.

The investigation had found out that the burnt money that was found in the house of Justice Varma was subject to strong inferential evidence that he had covert or active control of the currency.
People with knowledge in the case said that Varma had requested the legal team to urgently list the case.
It was DISAGREED that the matter be listed and CJI Gavai had recused himself in hearing the plea. Masayoshi observed that it would not be right to be involved in the same because earlier he had been involved in internal deliberations involving the case.Impeachment motion against Justice Varma shortly: The first Union minister Kiren Rijiju
Elsewhere, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, on Friday, said that the Lok Sabha Parliament was shortly going to commence proceedings to impeach Justice Varma.

“We shouldn’t remain in any doubt, proceedings to remove Justice Yashwant Varma will begin in Lok Sabha,” Rijiju said, along with the statement that in support of this move, the assentment of all the parties had been bargained.
Following the controversy behind his alleged role in corruption, Justice Varma was removed of his judicial functions and brought back to his home high court in April earlier this year.
The 149 Lok Sabha MPs and 63 Rajya Sabha MPs issued separate intimation on the first day of the present Parliament session to their respective Houses to impeach the President.
The provision of the formality in removing a person as required by the constitution is the granting of a majority of MPs in Lok Sabha (100) and Rajya Sabha (50).
Passage of impeachment motion will require majority of total number of its members and two thirds of members sitting at the House and voting in each House.
