'Speak Marathi or Get Out’: Verbal Spat on Mumbai Local Train Sparks Heated Language Row

'Speak Marathi or Get Out’: The exchange of words between two passengers over a seat in a local train in Mumbai ended up on a Marathi vs Hindi conflict between two groups of passengers with one woman telling other group of female passengers to speak Marathi or get out.
The incident occurred in one of the crowded local train coaches within the Central Line of the Maharashtra capital, where one can observe the ladies having a verbal fight. A video footage of the incident has also been seen in the internet.

A quick 17-second video, that has now gone viral, was witnessed of half a dozen of women indulging in verbal duels inside the crowded compartment.
The video starts by a woman, beyond the camera vision, beat up another group of passengers. It is possible to hear one of the women who is involved in the verbal combat saying, "If you want to live in Mumbai, speak Marathi, or else get out." We can also see that other group of women is involved in an altercation.
The Railway authorities have apparently acknowledged the incident and the same has stated that the incident occurred in the ladies compartment of a train under the Central Railways.
Yet, there is no registered form of complaint against the incident as India Today reported.

Even though verbal fights and petty quarrels are not stranger to jam-packed Mumbai local train, the spar eventually escalated at the Marathi language at the time when the state was gripped in a language row in Maharashtra.
Political temperatures have been peaking in the state over the Marathi vs Hindi issue and even the political parties such as the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) have been raking this issue to the party polls in the state.
On Thursday, a shopkeeper in the Mumbai area of Vikroli was attacked by the MNS workers on allegations of hurting the sentiments of the Marathi people by posting a status on WhatsApp.
Similarly, in another case, members of MNS were videotaped beating a street stall owner at Thane because he refused to converse in Marathi. In Mumbai, another shopkeeper is also beaten up at Mira Road on the same issue. A driver of an autorickshaw was beaten on the ground that he was not able to converse in Marathi.
