Sonakshi Sinha on Stray Dogs’ Plight: ‘Every Day Is a Disappointment’

Sonakshi Sinha on Stray Dogs’ Plight: Sonakshi Sinha has responded to the Supreme Court order to remove stray dogs in Delhi-NCR region to shelters. She shared one of the posts made by Dogs of India that stresses that street dogs have no basic needs such as shelter, vaccination and sterilisation. Together with this, the actress expressed her sincere thought regarding the same directive.

According to a passage of the note posted by Sonakshi Sinha to Instagram stories, the problem is numbers and not the street dogs since they are victims. This was titled victims of fear, hunger, disease, neglect, cruelty and abandonment and shed light on the state of Indian street dogs. The post has gone further to assert that even the stray dogs have a tendency of falling victims of several mishaps like accidents and abuse. Further, it discusses how the unfortunate dogs also get to see their puppies go through the same.

Sonakshi Sinha Blasts Relocation Order Of Street Dogs

It is also not in favor of the animal welfare when people sell, dump or even transfer street dogs to congested shelters, which is also criticised in the post. Rather, it highlights an easy way out of this, which is through spaying (a surgical procedure carried out on female animals to have their ovaries and uterus removed so as to effectively prevent procreation among these animals, according to a report by the VCA Animal Hospitals) and vaccination of street dogs.

Sharing the post, Sonakshi Sinha wrote, “Day by day we expose how soulless we have become as a society," adding, “Every day is a disappointment."

Famous People Who Criticized The Decree On Deportation Of Stray Dogs

Various other leading celebrities of the industry have responded to the order made by the court to move out the street dogs. Janhvi Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Tiger Shroff, Sophie Choudry and the rest wrote long posts or reshared viral posts that expressed their feelings which cried this decision to be heartbreaking and cruel. They have also highlighted the fact that such measures will lead to elimination of the stray dogs population altogether.

Sophie Choudry Emphasised The Need For A Better Humane Solution

On one of her Instagram stories, Sophie wrote, “This is absolutely heartbreaking and cruel!! There is no way that shelters will have space. There has to be a better solution. What about the actual menaces out there that should be dealt with first?!!"

She also shared a piece of experience, adding, “I get that strays can be scary… I’ve had a pack of them chase after Tia and me on a beach. It was a narrow escape and could have been terrible. I’m just saying there has to be a more humane solution than what has been declared. As a country, we have to do better when it comes to how we deal with ALL animals. There is far too much cruelty that goes without punishment."
