Solar Eclipse 2024: On Monday, millions of Americans, Canadians, and Mexicans witnessed a total solar eclipse across the path of totality.
It was estimated that 31.6 million people living in the path of totality witnessed the total solar eclipse in 2024, along with 150 million others within 322 kilometers of the path of totality.
Several densely populated cities and areas were on the path of totality.
A NASA video shared on social media site X shows what astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) saw during a solar eclipse.
Total solar eclipses happen when the moon completely blocks the sun's face as it passes between the Earth and the sun.

Areas where the moon's shadow completely covers the sun are part of the path of totality, so those living there experience a total solar eclipse.

On Monday, a total solar eclipse raced across North America during the midday hours, thrilling those lucky enough to observe it through clear skies.
