SBI Electoral Bonds Data Shows 41 Companies Donated ₹2,471 Crore to BJP: The CBI, ED and IT departments are investigating 41 firms that donated 2,471 crore to the BJP under the SBI electoral bonds scheme. According to civil society activists who challenged the poll funding scheme in the Supreme Court on Friday, the majority of the amount, nearly 1,698 crore, was donated to the BJP after raids by these agencies.
A senior advocate who appeared for the petitioners in the court said at least 30 shell companies purchased electoral bonds worth over Rs 143 crore after the Election Commission released new data on electoral bonds.
Thirty-three groups that have received 172 major government contracts and approvals have also made donations through electoral bonds.
In exchange for 1,751 crore electoral bond donations to the BJP, they received 3.7 lakh crore in projects and contracts.
BJP Received Almost 3 crore from 41 companies
Further, Bhhushan claimed that 41 companies raided by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Income Tax Department gave Rs 2,471 crore to the BJP, of which Rs 1,698 crore came after the raids and Rs 121 crore came after three months.
He alleged that the Centre or BJP-led state governments approved at least 49 postpaid contracts or projects, for which Rs 580 crore in "kickbacks" in the form of electoral bonds were given to the BJP.
BJP received nearly Rs 5.5 to Rs 60 crore from companies such as Kalpataru Group, Future Gaming and many others within three months of the raids.
Bhushan alleged that four categories of corruption were committed through the electoral bonds scheme, which he called the biggest scam of independent India.
Anjali Bhardwaj, also a petitioner in the case, demanded an independent investigation.
Electoral bonds were scrapped by the Supreme Court in a decision, stating that they were unconstitutional, and ordering all details about bonds purchased and redeemed to be released
