According to Saif, he and his wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, were in their bedroom when they heard the screams of their nanny, Eliyama Phillip, who was in their younger son Jeh’s room. Rushing to the scene, they found an intruder inside. Jeh was crying, and chaos unfolded as Saif tried to restrain the man. During the struggle, the attacker stabbed Saif multiple times on his neck, back, and arms, forcing him to loosen his grip.
Saif Ali Khan further said that despite his grave injuries he pushed the intruder away, while the household staff ran out of the room with Jeh. They then locked the attacker in the room from where he later escaped.

After the attack unfolded, Saif Ali Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai where he underwent emergency surgery. Three days after the attack, the police arrested the accused from neighbouring Thane city.
Fakir, a native of the Jhalokathi district in Bangladesh, had been residing in Mumbai for over five months, working odd jobs and being associated with a housekeeping agency, the police have said. A court in Mumbai on Sunday remanded the accused in five-day police custody.

Following Saif’s discharge from the hospital, police have provided temporary protection to the family, including two constables who will accompany them during outings.
Meanwhile, the police continue their investigation, with statements from key witnesses, including the salon owner who assisted Islam in altering his appearance post-incident.
Meanwhile, the Mumbai Police's investigation revealed several fingerprints of the accused at the actor's residence in Bandra. Police found the accused's fingerprints on the stairs of the building, the door of the toilet, and the door handle of his son Jeh's room.
