Rain diminishes RCB Hope Of Qualifying for the IPL Playoffs: Royal Challengers Bangalore is all set to make its palace in the IPL 2024 Playoffs if it wins today’s match against CSK. However, there can be a slight turn of events if the weather report comes to be true and rain starts.
The game at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on May 18 is very important for RCB because a good win there will determine their chances of making the playoffs.
In its May 18 weather report, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that there is a 90% chance of rain in the evening and that humidity will be high.
If it rains then the last hope of RCB qualifying for the IPL 2024 playoffs will be gone and all its efforts till now will be in vain as continuous rain would lead to shortening the game and the smallest game that can happen is five overs, further match shortening will lead to the match being canceled.

Last year also similar situation happened with RCB against GT but due to RCB's good fortune the match was conducted somehow.

How will rain affect RCB's chances of qualifying for the IPL playoffs?
The next game against CSK is again very important for the RCB's hopes of making to the playoffs since they only won one of their first eight games.
The win against SRH was the start of RCB's momentum which led them to win five straight games and have a great chance of ending in the top four.
However, to beat CSK on the net run rate, the Bengaluru-based team needs to beat them by 18 runs if they score 200 first or 201 with 11 balls left in the innings.
If the game is called off because of rain, both teams will get a point that will lead to giving CSK 15 points which is two more than RCB, thus there will be no winner in this case.
