“Predators Wear Patriotism as Feathers”: On Thursday, MP Manickam Tagore reacted to an ambiguous social media post by party colleague Shashi Tharoor, an act that turns out to suggest the emergence of tensions within the party.
“Don’t ask permission to fly. Birds don’t need clearance to rise… But in today, even a free bird must watch the skies—hawks, vultures, and ‘eagles’ are always hunting. Freedom isn’t free, especially when the predators wear patriotism as feathers. ????????️ #DemocracyInDanger #BirdsOfPrey,” Tagore wrote on X (formerly Twitter), along with an image of birds of prey.
The post featured 6 birds of prey, a bald eagle, red-tailed hawk, osprey, American kestrel, Turkey vulture, and a great horned owl.
What caught the eye was the mention of the predators, as people wonder whether and when Shashi Tharoor may switch sides and join BJP, a party Organiser recently hailed as an appropriate party to the Shashi Tharoor. Such rumours have however been dispelled by Shashi Tharoor.

This was after a subtle attack of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, who on Wednesday said, “Our party believes in the ‘country first’ mantra, but for some, it is ‘Modi first and country later.’”
Although Kharge did not specify Tharoor, his comments were generally deemed as targeting him.

The comment by Kharge could not be immediately responded by Tharoor who has occasionally hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on selective issues. Nevertheless, when his post appeared and Tagore responded has again raised the highlight on the internal tensions within the Congress.
Shashi Tharoor has come out strongly to justify the stand taken by India after the Pahalgam terror attack and the resultant Operation Sindoor.
Although the Congress supported the government reaction at first, it turned its back and requested clarity on why the ceasefire happened and what the United States might have done.
The Congress leadership felt uneasy with the things said by Tharoor at some instances to justify the government action, it was reported.
