PM Modi to Disburse First Installment: PM Narendra Modi will launch the PM Awas Yojana for rural beneficiaries of lakhs of rupees in first instalments, apart housing minister for 26 lakh beneficiaries the ‘Griha Pravesh’ on September 15 in Jamshedpur will be performed, said Rural development minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday.
While speaking at an online meeting with rural development ministers of states, Chouhan said that the prime minister will release instalments worth Rs 2,745 crore to lakhs of PM Awas Yojana (PMAY) beneficiaries.
PM Modi will also discuss with the occupants of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) beneficiaries, said the Rural Development Ministry.
In the event slated at Jharkhand, 10 lakh and odd beneficiaries will receive their first installments. Distribution of acceptance letters to all the targeted beneficiaries for the financial year 2024-25 will also be done, it added.
The ministry said that a lot of people will be engaged in the programme and lakhs will be joining it virtually.

Chouhan mentioned that it was aimed at building 2 The idea of doubling the construction of houses was in line with Chouhan’s elections pledge stationed by the Bhartiya Janata Party. 100 crore houses by ending march 2024 on which almost all the houses have been sanctioned out of punter. Now 65 crore houses have been completed.
He said the ‘griha pravesh’, the ritual performed while entering a new house, of 26 lakh beneficiaries, whose houses have been constructed till now in the Financial Year 2023-24 and the Financial Year 2024-25, will also be performed on the day.
To this, Chouhan said the operational requirements of the scheme have been made less stringent to remove barriers to exclusion.
The ministry has said that exclusion criteria like possession of motorized two-wheelers / fishing boats, refrigerators and landline phones etc have been done away with.
Besides this, the added limitation of monthly income of a member of the family has been raised from Rs 10000 to Rs 15000. It has added that the criteria surrounding ownership of land have also been decomplicated as exclusion ones.
“The Ministry of Rural Development, after consulting the views of all the states and all the stakeholders, has decided that unnecessary conditions should be removed so that the objective of housing for all can be truly realized,” the minister said.

Chouhan also said that the houses which are constructed under this scheme are ‘comprehensive’ houses they are very adequate.
The Union cabinet had month earlier in September given its expropriation for the PMAY-G during financial year 2024-25 to 2028-29.
To meet the need of housing that has emerged over the period, the next five years target for PMAY-G is to build additional two crore houses. Building houses for two crore more families can help at least 10 crore people, the statement added.
To implement the vision of ‘Housing for All’ especially in the rural areas of the country, the Government of India initiated the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana -Gramin (PMAY-G) from the Financial Year 2016-17 with the goal of construction of 2.
