PM Modi Slams Pakistan on Lex Fridman Podcast: On Sunday, India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi blasted Pakistan on a podcast with Lex Fridman, saying that India's every effort towards peace would be countered with hostility and betrayal.
He recalled that he had invited his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif to his swearing-in ceremony in 2014 with hopes that a new beginning would be made for the India-Pakistan relationship.

"Yet, every noble attempt at fostering peace was met with hostility and betrayal. We sincerely hope that wisdom prevails upon them and they choose the path of peace," he said.
PM Modi said that even the people of Pakistan want peace because they tire of living under conflict, restlessness, and a ceaseless terror regime.
Referring to his initiatives during his first term for improving relations with Pakistan, he mentioned that he had expected not to see any madness for failing results.
"It was a diplomatic gesture unlike any in decades. The very people who once questioned my approach to foreign policy were taken aback when they learned I had invited all SAARC heads of state and our then President Pranab Mukherjee beautifully captured that historic gesture in his memoir," Modi said.
"This was a testament to how clear and confident India's foreign policy had become. This sent a clear message to the world about India's commitment to peace and harmony, but we didn't get the desired outcome," he added.

On being asked about Donald Trump as a leader, PM Modi said that he appreciates the "unfailing" dedication of the US president to America. Commenting on the attempts on Trump's life last year, PM Modi lauded the resilience and resolve of the American leader.
In fact, he is very close to Donald Trump.
PM Modi opens up about the 2002 Godhra riots
PM Modi mentioned that a false narrative was spread concerning the Godhra case. There were over 250 riots in Gujarat before 2002, and communal riots have been common. Also, he recounted as to how the world was witnessing this increase in terrorist and violent activities at those times. However, there has been no such riot in the entire state of Gujarat after 2002. The PM explained that the government's policy is not based on vote bank politics but the principle of "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas." He also highlighted the fact that how people tried to malign his image after the riots but ultimately justice prevailed and the courts cleared his name.
