Amid tense tensions between the two nations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau at the G20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The two leaders were seen interacting with US President Joe Biden.
The three presidents were joined by other world leaders for the family portrait, Trudeau grinned and PM Modi laughed as Biden spoke with both of them.

A minute later, Chinese President Xi Jinping took his seat as the leaders gathered in a huge room at a Rio art museum.
The leaders clapped and held hands when it was all over.
The fulsome show of unity could not have contrasted more starkly with the farcical scenes when Biden missed out on the photo a day earlier.
On Monday, Biden was seen making his way through a few palm trees to the photo opportunity at the beautiful bayside of the Brazilian city; however, the other leaders had already started to scatter after the shot was taken.

His no-show had seemed to symbolize the 81-year-old’s waning influence as the world looked towards a second Trump administration in the following Republican's overwhelming victory in the US election.
Biden has been making a final pitc for international assistance on issues from the climate crisis to Ukraine and the Middle East during a six-day tour of South America.
Despite significant events like his approval of Ukraine's use of long-range US-made missiles to strike Russia, Biden has also maintained a low media profile and declined questions from reporters on his trip.
Sergei Lavrov, the Russian foreign minister, was in the picture on Monday but not on Tuesday. He was there instead of Vladimir Putin, who is facing an international criminal court warrant for the war in Ukraine.
