PM Modi Inaugurates Two New Highways in Delhi to Boost Connectivity
“Dwarka Expressway and UER-II will benefit people of Delhi-NCR... Government is making efforts to remove all difficulties of people of Delhi,” Mr. Modi said

On Sunday (August 17, 2025), Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the Delhi segment of the Dwarka Expressway and an Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) costing almost 11000 crores in an effort to alleviate the traffic load in the national capital and its surroundings.
The two and more projects are developed by the comprehensive planning under the government to relieve the capital on connectivity, shorten travel time, and decongest the traffic in the capital and the areas near to it.
The introduction of these new projects will also decrease the travel time to IGI Airport considerably upon their full-scale implementation between Sonipat, Rohtak, Bahadurgarh and Gurugram.

Prime Minister said that the government is transforming Delhi into a showcase of growth expressing the aspirations of a developing India.
According to Mr. Modi, the particular quality of the Urban Extension Road is that it served as a unique decision of impacting the soaring crisis of garbage in the city.
Addressing the gathering, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari averred that the two projects will see half of the traffic jams halted in Delhi.
Delhi portion (10.1 kms) of the Dwarka expressway has been constructed at an approximate cost of 5360 crores. It also will facilitate multi-modal connectivity with Yashobhoomi, Delhi Metro Blue and Orange lines, the future Bijwasan railway station and Dwarka cluster bus depot.
The stretch has been bifurcated into two packages i.e. package I of 5.9 kilometer (Shiv Murti intersection to the Road Under Bridge (RUB) at Dwarka Sector-21 and package II of 4.2 (will have direct connectivity with Urban Extension Road-II).

Mr. Modi got to mingle with the labourers when he was going around to check the Dwarka Expressway. He even conducted a roadshow in Mundka-Bakkarwala Village Toll Plaza, in Delhi.
In March 2024, the Haryana part of the Dwarka Expressway, 19 kilometres long, had been opened by the Prime Minister.
Mr. Modi also opened Alipur to Dichaon Kalan part of Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II), and new connections to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat at an estimated cost of 5,580 crore.
It will decongest the Inner and Outer Ring Roads and the rush areas around such as Mukarba Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, and NH-09 in Delhi. The new spurs will provide direct access to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, enhance industrial connectivity, reduce traffic in the city, and accelerate movement of goods in the NCR.
