PM Modi in France LIVE: India to Host Next AI Action Summit, Announces France

PM Narendra Modi addressed the summit along with French president Emmanuel Macron. Their joint call for democratised access to AI preceded the event.

PM Modi in France LIVE: India to Host Next AI Action Summit, Announces France

PM Modi in France LIVE: Once again, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron have opened the AI Action Summit in Paris, attended by the President of the EU Commission, Urusula Von Der Leyen, and UN Chief Antonio Guterres. During his intervention at the Summit, PM Modi emphasized investments to skill and reskill people for an AI-infused future, claiming that governance is about giving access to all, especially in the Global South.

France reiterated that India will be hosting the next AI summit after PM Modi expressed interest in hosting it. Meanwhile, India assured France of its cooperation in all AI initiatives.

PM Modi's Excellency visit to France: highlights

Modi attended a state dinner at the Élysée Palace hosted by President Macron in honour of the visiting Heads of Government and States. Written invitation to the dinner went to tech CEOs and other distinguished participants of the summit.

Increased significance for AI Action Summit arose in light of China's DeepSeek technological disruption. "The plan is for India to build its own AI model," IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw revealed.

Discussions will take place in a limited setting as well as in a delegation format and will commence the India-France CEO's Forum.

On Wednesday, Modi will visit the Mazargues War Cemetery of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission in Marin, where tributes will be paid to Indian soldiers who lost their lives in World War I.

Modi will also accompany Macron to Cadarache for viewings on ITER, the International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor project in high-level science.
