People’s Budget: Prime Minister Narendra Modi hailed the Union Budget as a "people's budget," emphasising its focus on boosting savings, investment, and growth while empowering citizens.
He highlighted measures to strengthen manufacturing, enabling Indian products to compete globally. Welfare provisions for gig workers reaffirm the government’s commitment to labour dignity.
PM Modi also underscored key reforms, including granting infrastructure status to shipbuilding to drive employment and self-reliance.
Additionally, the budget prioritises tourism by developing hotels at 50 key destinations, classifying them as infrastructure to revitalise the hospitality sector and generate jobs. He called these steps transformative for India's economic future.
In televised remarks on the Budget, Modi said the government has opened up many sectors for the youth, who will drive the mission of 'Viksit Bharat' (developed India). "This Budget is a force multiplier. This Budget will increase savings, investment.
"In this budget, income up to Rs 12 lakh per annum has been made tax-free. For all income groups, taxes have been reduced. It will hugely benefit our middle class. It will be an opportunity for the people who have recently joined the workforce..." the Prime Minister said.
Modi said welfare measures for gig workers underscore the government’s commitment to the dignity of labour.
He said the measures presented in the Budget for the manufacturing sector will allow Indian products to shine globally.

The announcements in the Budget for farmers will revolutionise the agriculture sector and rural economy.
"This will give energy to the hospitality sector, which is also a big source of jobs."
“In terms of reforms, many important steps have been taken in this Budget. Encouraging the private sector in nuclear energy is historic. It will ensure a big contribution of civil nuclear energy in the development of the country,” the prime minister said.
The tax relief will provide big benefits to the middle class and salaried employees.
