Noida Police Explains Delay in Naming Lamborghini Crash Driver in FIR

Noida Police: The Noida police have booked an FIR and nabbed Deepak, driver of the Lamborghini that rammed against two labourers sleeping on a footpath adjoining an under-construction building in Sector 94 on Sunday.

Deepak, a resident of Ajmer, drove a Lamborghini with Puducherry registration. The police have also seized that luxury vehicle, following investigation.

But some reports in the media mentioned that at the time of complaint, the FIR did not name the driver, which led to speculation that the case was being covered up. The Noida police have since updated the FIR and made Deepak an accused along with reasons for the delay.

As for the Noida police, on the day the officers received the complaint; the complainant had no idea of who the driver was or where he came from. "Later, the name came to light during the investigation and was added accordingly. The car driver/accused, Deepak, has been arrested. The car has been taken into police custody, and legal action has been taken as per the rules," they said in a statement.

He confessed to the police that the accident happened due to a fault. Bhupendra Singh is the in-charge person, Sector 126.

On that drawing, Republic TV quoted the police that the name of the laborers included Dijen Ravidas and Rambhu Kumar.

One of the laborers was in touch with Republic TV and told that they were hit by Lamborghini that was allegedly coming at a speed of 300 km/hour towards them.

“A car was coming at a speed of 300 kmph. All three of us fell inside the drain after getting hit by the car. He was driving at 300 kmph," the labourer said.

However, no statement has been issued by the police regarding the speed of the Lamborghini at the time of the accident.

A video footage showed how a man was heard after the accident approaching the accused and asking him if he knew the number of people dying here. To this, the accused asked the locals "koi mar gaya idhar? (did anyone die here?)" and came out of the car.

With this, someone in the video could be heard saying, "police ko bulao (call the police)".

“I saw the car in a video of one of my influencer friends. The driver could not control the car, hit people, and then crashed into the divider. It is a Pondicherry-registered car,” Gaurav, an eyewitness, told news agency ANI.

  • According to Republic TV, the police have confirmed that he wasn't driving under the influence of alcohol when the accident happened.
  • The accident happened as Deepak was test driving this luxury vehicle and had lost control over the vehicle while it crashed into workers sitting on the pavement, added the report.
