In the matter whose comparison has been made with the Nirbhaya rape case in Delhi in 2012, the opposition is putting pressure upon the police forces in Hyderabad to send multiple teams to be formed to catch the criminal, Dattatray Ramdas Gade, who has ever since been a candidate trying to catch himself off guard in a Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) bus early Tuesday morning.

Kumar, Pune Police Commissioner, told the Press Trust of India that anyone who effectively provides information leading to the accused's arrest shall be rewarded with Rs 1 lakh.

What did DY Chandrachud say on Pune rape case

Laws on penals have undergone many changes ever since the 'Nirbhaya' incident took place, but even then, such incidents could not have prevented just by laws, former CJI DY Chandrachud pointed.

Chandrachud said there resides a greater responsibility among society and the laws should also be implemented.

"Laws made for women should be implemented properly. Women should feel safe wherever they go. It is important that in such cases, there should be proper investigation, strong action, quick trial and punishment. The legal system and the police have a big responsibility," DY Chandrachud said.

Swargate in Pune city is one of the largest bus depots of the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC).

The woman told that she was going to wait for a bus for Phaltan in Satara district on one of the platforms around 5.45 am on Tuesday, when a man approached and started conversing with her. He particularly called her 'didi' (sister), said to her that the bus for Satara was ready at the other platform.

An empty ‘Shiv Shahi’ AC bus was waiting for her in the sprawling station premises. She felt unsure about entering it because its lights were off when he held the door open but the man had enough convincing power to get her inside as he followed after her and raped her before leaving, the woman, who is a medical professional, narrated to the police.
