New Video Shows Students Jumping from Medical College Hostel: Days after the tragic Air India plane crash, a new video has surfaced from the BJ Medical College. The footage now circulating on social media shows students jumping out of the college building where the Boeing Dreamliner plane fell, killing 241 people onboard. Unfortunately, four medical students and five kin of resident doctors died in the crash, which occurred in the mess building.
The London-bound Air India flight AI-171, carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members, crashed shortly after takeoff from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport. The aircraft lost altitude within 50 seconds of takeoff and slammed into the BJ Medical College campus in the city’s Meghaninagar area, triggering a massive fireball and thick smoke that engulfed the hostel complex.
The fire can be seen billowing in front of the hostel in the visuals, with people shouting in panic. A few students can also be seen tying ropes made of bedsheets, while others climb down using the railing in a desperate bid to escape.

In another video accessed, a firefighter is seen climbing a ladder to the third floor of the hostel to rescue trapped students, as smoke billows from the building.
The newly emerged footage shows terrified students trying to flee the blaze. Thick plumes of black smoke billow beside the hostel building as students can be seen climbing out of windows, using makeshift cloth ropes to lower themselves to safety. Some are seen helping each other down, while others take refuge in nearby trees, watching helplessly as the plane burns in the background.
The courage of the surviving students, captured in this raw and emotional footage, has drawn widespread attention. Their quick thinking and bravery are being praised, even as questions loom over the cause of the disaster.
Many medical students and resident doctors had just sat for their meal at the hostel mess -- situated barely a kilometre from the airport -- when the tail-side portion of the aircraft rammed into it, turning an ordinary lunch hour into a horrific nightmare.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has launched an in-depth investigation into the crash. Initial findings suggest a critical malfunction shortly after takeoff, but officials stress that the full picture will only emerge after thorough analysis of flight data, cockpit voice recordings, and witness accounts. This incident ranks among the deadliest aviation disasters in India's history, and the newly surfaced video adds a haunting dimension to the tragedy. It has triggered fresh discussions about aviation safety, emergency preparedness near airports, and the urgent need for improved infrastructure to prevent similar catastrophes in the future.
