Secunderabad-Shalimar Express three coaches derail: Three coaches of 22850 Secunderabad-Shalimar Superfast Express derailed near Nalpur in Howrah district this morning before entering Shalimar railway station in the same district.
Though three coaches which derailed included one parcel coach and two passenger coaches, there is no casualty or injury till now, said chief public relations officer (CPRO) of South Eastern Railways, Om Prakash Charan.The train was changing track from middle line to downline when the derailment took place.
However, railway sources said that due to the derailment, normal train services on that section were affected very badly in the morning today. They said the train was running at 40 kmph when the derailment happened.
Railway sources said an accident relief train from Santragachi and medical relief train from Kharagpur were sent to the spot for assistance. An inquiry has been started to find out the reason of derailment.

“Fortunately, the train’s speed was low at the time when the derailment took place at around 5.31 a.m. Senior officials of the South Eastern Railways rushed to the spot on getting the information of the derailment,” confirmed a railways official.
“Buses have been arranged to carry the stranded passengers to their destinations. Restoration process is in progress,” the South Eastern Railway stated.
In 2022, 296 people were killed when Coromandel Express collided with a stationary goods train at Bahanaga Bazar in Odisha.
In June 2024, 11 people were killed when Sealdah-Agartala Kanchanjunga Express collided with a goods train from behind at Rangapani railway station in Darjeeling district of West Bengal.

He said restoration work was in progress.
Several express trains and EMU locals had to be detained or detained because of the accident, Charan said.
A helpline has been set up at Kharagpur 032229-3764, he said. A departmental inquiry into the accident would be opened, the SER official added.
