My Party Is Important’: DK Shivakumar Clarifies Remark, Reaffirms Support for Siddaramaiah

My Party Is Important’: “Have to go by my party", Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar reiterated his support for Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, and the composure of the Karnataka Congress remained free of any drama. The quote made by Shivakumar followed his, What option do I have?" observations were directed to the split in the party and the Deputy Chief Minister put the seal on the speculations still going on by saying that his "party is important."

Shivakumar also said that he will adhere to the decisions to be taken by his party and leadership in an effort to keep the overall goal of victory in the 2028 state Assembly elections in his mind.

Clarifying his “What option do I have? I have to stand by him and support him" statement for Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar said, “I have to go by my party. My party is important. My leadership’s decision is important. We have an aim to bring 2028 (state assembly elections), we will work for that."

Shortly after Shivakumar said so, which reflected that he was unhappy, on Wednesday, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah rubbished BJP reports of rift within the State government, dubbing allegations as lies and asserted that his government would insist on completion of the full five-year term.

“What the BJP says is only lies. You (media) only don’t believe what they say. They’re known for lies. They don’t know how to speak the truth. Doesn’t matter whether they believe it or not, we are all together," Siddaramaiah said, adding, “Our government will remain for five years like a rock, as I told you in Mysore. BJP people are daydreaming."
