Mumbai doctor jumps from Atal Setu minutes after calling mother
The police claimed that the doctor had pulled off his car at the Navi Mumbai-Mumbai road of the sea link and leaped across the railings of the Atal Setu.

A 32-year-old physician in Mumbai purportedly threw himself over the Sewri-Nhava Sea Link Atal Setu just some minutes after dialing his mother.
Dr Omkar Kavitake left a phone call with mother stating that he was coming back home to have dinner, it was mentioned in a report published in Indian express citing police sources. He is still being traced by the police.

He was a doctor and the resident of Kalamboli, Navi Mumbai, which had served the Sir JJ Hospital in Mumbai during the last six years.
The last person who saw Dr Kavitake on Monday night was a motorist and he reported to the police control room.
According to the concerned police, the doctor had parked his vehicle on the Navi Mumbai-Mumbai stretcher of the sea link and crossed the Atal Setu railings.
When the police arrived, they discovered a car with a phone in it. After carrying out some research and few calls in the phone numbers dialled lastly in the phone belonging to Dr Kavitake, the police could indeed verify that the phone and car belonged to him.

Police said they had informed the family of Dr Kavitake and launched a search procedure.
“When we checked the phone call details, we found that the doctor last called his mother at 9.11 PM on Monday and told her that he was soon coming home to have dinner…,” Arjun Rajane, Senior Inspector of the Ulwa police station, told the Indian Express.
All that is yet discovered is that no written note or message is found. According to Rajane, the police are interviewing his family, workmates and friends in an effort to ascertain why his boss, Dr Kavitake supposedly jumped off the sea bridge. The process of investigation is in progress.
The sea bridge: Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu also called as the Mumbai Trans-Harbour Link (MTHL) links the satellite city of Navi Mumbai to the south Mumbai. It was inaugurated in January 2024 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Its sea link with 21.8-km length and 16.5 km distance is a six-lane bridge.
