Kangana Ranaut Says She’s Not Enjoying Politics: Kangana Ranaut, the actress turned politician is a Member of Parliament from BJP from Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi constituency after she won the Lok Sabha elections 2024 with a majority. After completing a year in office she has now admitted that she is not fully enjoying her political career.
She also added that though she has always stood up for women’s rights and women’s empowerment, politics was more of a social service which is not something she had done or was her background.
Kangana spoke about her political career in a podcast on YouTube channel Atman in Ravi (AIR). Kangana joined the BJP in March 2024. Kangana revealed that she entered politics after getting an offer and she decided to give it a shot.
“I’m getting a hang of it. I wouldn’t say that I am enjoying it (politics). It’s a very different kind of work, more like social service. This hasn’t been my background. I’ve never thought of serving people," she said.

Known for her vocal stand on women’s rights, Ranaut clarified that her activism in the past was quite different from the responsibilities of public office. She shared how constituents often approach her with hyper-local civic problems. “I’ve fought for women’s rights, but that’s different… Somebody’s naali is broken, and I’m like, ‘But I am an MP and these people are coming to me with panchayat-level problems’. They don’t care. When they see you, they come to you with problems like broken roads, and I tell them that’s a state government issue, and they say, ‘You have money, you use your own money’," she added.
When asked if she wants to become Prime Minister one day, Kangana replied that she doesn’t think she is competent enough for the role. That’s because social work has never been her background. She said that she has “lived a very selfish kind of life”.
During her tenure as a BJP MP, Kangana has been rebuked a few times for not toeing the party line. She admitted the same in an interview with The Lallantop and said that she got a call from party president JP Nadda when she posted comments about farm laws on social media. “I take my words back,” Kangana said after the party distanced itself from her comments.

Asked if she has greater political ambitions, such as becoming Prime Minister one day, Kangana said that she prays that this doesn’t happen. “I don’t think I’m competent to be the PM of India, nor do I have the necessary passion or inclination. Social work has never been my background. I’ve lived a very selfish kind of life. I want to have a big house, a big car, I want to have diamonds. I want to look good. That’s the kind of life I’ve lived. This is a kind of genesis for me. I don’t know what purpose God chose me for, but I don’t see my life as this grand sacrifice… I don’t fancy that kind of life, and I don’t wish that upon anyone… I don’t have it in me.”
Kangana Ranaut contested on BJP ticket and won the Lok Sabha elections 2024 from Mandi constituency. Kangana won in Mandi Lok Sabha seat by a margin of 74,755 votes against her Congress rival Vikramaditya Singh. She was slapped by a CISF officer at the Chandigarh airport a day after the win. She also released a video after the incident, assuring her followers that she was safe and unharmed.
When it comes to Bollywood, she was last seen in Emergency. According to Variety, Kangana is now set to make her Hollywood debut with the upcoming horror film Blessed Be The Evil, produced by US-based Lions Movies. She will star alongside Teen Wolf actor Tyler Posey and Scarlet Rose Stallone. The film will go on floors later this year in New York.
