Monsoon Hits Central India: Heavy Rainfall Expected in These States
West Bengal and Sikkim in the sub-Himalayas are likely to experience heavy rain on June 8–12, as well as Assam and Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh from June 9–12, and Nagaland on June 8 and 12. Also, Assam and Meghalaya on June 11 and 12 are likely to experience heavy rain.

Monsoon Hits Central India: As per the reports of the India Meteorological Department, the southern monsoon rain has expanded into some parts Arabian Sea, South Maharashtra including Mumbai, Telangana, parts of South Chhattisgarh and South Odisha, the Arabian Sea, and other areas of Coastal Andhra Pradesh.
The report came on Saturday and it further that the rain will fall on these areas over the next two or three days.
In a tweet, IMD said, “Heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy (115.5-204.4 mm) with extremely heavy rainfall ( > 204.4 mm) is likely at isolated places over Coastal Karnataka on 08th and 09th June 2024.”
In another tweet, IMD further said, “Heavy (64.5-115.5 mm) to very heavy (115.5-204.4 mm) rainfall with extremely heavy rainfall ( > 204.4 mm) is likely at isolated places over Madhya Maharashtra during 09-11 June 2024.”
The reports further stated extreme heavy rain is also expected over the areas of Goa, Konkan, and Telangana on June 11.

Maharashtra is expected to experience heavy rain from June 8 to 11 and Karnataka will experience heavy rain on June 8 and 9.

Hindustan Times reported that IMD predicts light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds (40-50 km) in various areas, including Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Karnataka, Kerala & Mahe, and Lakshadweep. Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Karaikal for the next five days.
It further reported a cyclonic circulation and strong winds from the Bay of Bengal which will bring light to moderate rainfall over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim for the next seven days.
