Modi Message To Germany To Not Include Themselves In Kejriwal Case

Modi Message To German: According to a German spokesman, the Indian Constitution guarantees basic freedoms and rights.
On the day the Narendra Modi government summoned senior US diplomats to strongly object against remarks made by State department spokesman regarding arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal by Enforcement Directorate in Liquor scam, a chastised Germany on Wednesday took a decisive U-turn on the issue and refused to interfere in India's internal affairs.
During a demarche to Bonn last Saturday, the Ministry of External Affairs summoned a senior German diplomat to South Block in protest against a German spokesperson's statement about Indian internal affairs.
MEA viewed the condescending remarks of the German spokesperson as undermining the independence of the Indian judiciary and interfering with the Indian judicial process.

As a result of MEA's firm counter, German spokesman yesterday refused to share any details about the summoning in Delhi and declined to comment.
As the spokesman said, "I have commented on the case, but I will not report from confidential conversations at this time." Both sides are interested in deepening cooperation, and we and the Indian side are looking forward to the next government consultations, which are expected to take place in the autumn.”
“Human rights and freedoms are guaranteed under the Indian Constitution. We share these democratic values with India as a strategic partner.” The response of the spokesperson was in German language and this is the closest translation.
“India’s legal processes are based on an independent judiciary which is committed to objective and timely outcomes. Casting aspersions on that is unwarranted,” India’s foreign ministry said on Wednesd.
During the time of the German response, India stressed the importance of democratic countries like the United States taking care not to undermine the due process of law by commenting on fellow democracies (in this case the largest).
In addition, New Delhi has stated that commenting on the internal affairs of third countries will create bad precedents and is a two-way street.
A country from Western Europe has quietly informed India that it will not comment on Kejriwal's arrest in the Delhi Excise Policy money laundering probe.
