IPL 2024: Amila Kalugalage Confirmed that Matheesha Pathirana Has Arrived in Chennai, Set to Join CSK Squad Soon

Matheesha Pathirana Set to Join CSK Squad Soon
Matheesha Pathirana's manager Amila Kalugalage confirmed the Sri Lankan pacer has reached Chennai and will join the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squad shortly for IPL 2024.
The CSK opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) was missed due to Pathirana's hamstring injury sustained during the second T20I of the series against Bangladesh.
Who is Pathirana?
A player replacement for the injured Adam Milne was taken by the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2022, Matheesha Pathirana. As a right-arm medium pacer and right-handed batter, the 19-year-old was a member of Sri Lanka's U19 World Cup squads in 2020 and 2022.
His last IPL season resulted in 19 wickets in 12 matches and an impressive economy of 8.90, making him the franchise's highest wicket-taker. As of yet, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has not confirmed Pathirana's participation. If cleared by SLC, Pathirana might play in CSK's upcoming IPL 2024 matches.
With Pathirana back, Chennai's bowling attack will gain strength in the death overs, as they won their first match in IPL 2024 against RCB without any problems.
