Michael Vaughan Predicts Doom for Gambhir & Gill, Ups England Series Prediction to 4-0
Michael Vaughan has changed his prediction for the Test series between India and England following the result at Headingley.

Ben Stokes's England have a 1-0 lead in the five-match series against India after the hosts clinched a resounding five-wicket victory in the Headingley Test. With the help of a left-handed opening batter named Ben Duckett, who scored 149 runs, England chased down 371 putting Shubman Gill and co under a lot of pressure. Former England captain Michael Vaughan, who previously predicted the hosts to win the series 3-1 before Leeds test, taken aback by the result, changed his scoreboard for the series completely.

After the Headingley Test had ended, Michael Vaughan and Wasim Jaffer continued their banter on the social media site X (formerly Twitter). Vaughan wrote first: "Evening @WasimJaffer14.. Hope you are ok .. #1-0.”
To which Jaffer replied, taking a shot at Vaughan, about it being good to see that a young Indian team had been worrying Vaughan.
"Happy that a young Indian team got you worried like this. Enjoy the win, Michael, we’ll be back," Jaffer wrote.
Michael Vaughan ended up replying in quick succession with Vaughan reluctantly predicting England would win the series 4-0.

"Could be 4-0 now, Wasim,” Vaughan added in the end. It should be noted that before the series between India and England commenced, Vaughan had predicted England would win 3-1.

The visitors lost the opening Test even when having five centurions, which is the first time in the pecking order of Test cricket for a team to lose a match even when having five century makers.
Rishabh Pant scored a century in both innings. Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill scored tons in the first inning while KL Rahul contributed in the second. Jasprit Bumrah took five wickets in the first innings, but could not add to that tally in the second innings as the Indian team failed to defend 370.
India are without Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Ravichandran Ashwin due to their retirements from Test cricket with a very young Indian unit determined to compete against England and give a green and gold crowd some opposition.
One cannot dispute that India allowed the match to slip away from them. Lower order collapses in both innings, combined with an awful fielding display, resigned India to a 1-0 defeat in the five-match series.
India and England will now face each other in the second Test at Edgbaston, commencing on Wednesday, July 2.
