Meerut Murder Twist: Victim Saurabh Rajput’s Mother Says Granddaughter Knew About Killing

Meerut Murder Twist: Mother of the Saurabh Rajput who was murdered Meerut hogged headlines today as she claimed that Muskan Rastogi's parents were privy to the devilment but conveniently kept mum on all counts. They said accused parents made a visit to the police because they were apprehensive about the legal action against them.

A merchant navy officer, Saurabh Rajput was allegedly murdered by his wife Muskan Rastogi with the help of Sahil Shukla.

Bitterly contesting Muskan's parents' claims of being unaware of the murder, Saurabh's mother, Renu Devi, went so far as to accuse them of misleading the police.

"The truth is that Muskan's mother knew about the crime (before March 18). They went to the police station only to save themselves from legal action," Renu Devi alleged.

The two confessed to stabbing Saurabh to death on March 4 and proceeded to chop up his body, put the remains in a drum, and sealed it with cement, the police revealed.

According to Saurabh's mother, even their six-year-old daughter was aware of the murder.

"That is why, as we have come to know from some people, she (Saurabh's daughter) was saying, 'Papa is in the drum'," Renu Devi said.

What the police said on the Meerut murder

This was, however, dismissed by SP City Ayush Vikram Singh.

"When Muskan was telling the story of the incident to the family members, the girl might have been present there. The girl did not know anything (beforehand) about this," he added.

As per police sources, Muskan contacted her family on March 18 and told her parents about the crime, who in turn took her to the police.

According to Muskan's police story, she had been planning since November 2023 that she would kill her husband, with Sahil allegedly deceived into thinking that it was his deceased mother who wanted him to kill Saurabh.

"Muskan created a fake Snapchat ID in the name of her brother and then told her lover Sahil that his dead mother had appeared and was connecting via her brother's ID. Muskan also told Sahil that his dead mother wanted Saurabh to be killed," the officer told PTI.

Muskan is also reported to have been looking for a place to bury Saurabh after the murder. She had procured knives for chopping chicken and acquired sedatives prior to Saurabh's February return from London.

"Muskan knew that after Saurabh's murder, his family would not try to find him. Because Saurabh was not in regular touch with his family members for the last couple of years," said the SP.

"The family members of Saurabh, who were angry after his marriage with Muskan, had not spoken to him in the last two years when he was abroad," the police officer added.

Meanwhile, the police stated that Muskan shed tears throughout the first night in jail and refused to eat her food.
