Ukraine Strikes Russia's Nuke-Bomber Airfield: Using the power of drones, Ukraine attacked Russia's Engels strategic bomber base on Thursday. This assault created a terrific bang and a massive fire around 700 km (435 miles) from the lines of the war, as quoted by Reuters from Russian officials.
A video circulating among Russian Telegram channels and verified by Reuters, demonstrated a powerful blast which rocked the airfield, wreaking damage among nearby cottages.

Russia's defense ministry claimed that air defenses shot down 132 Ukrainian drones over Russian regions.
One video verified by Reuters, based on the position and shape of the buildings, showed smoke rising above the damaged cottages.
Reuters's report states that the bomber base in Engels-from and before early Soviet times-is the home of Russia's Tupolev Tu-160 nuclear-capable heavy strategic bombers, which are informally known as White Swans.

Roman Busargin, Saratov governor, has announced that there had been a Ukrainian drone attack over the city of Engels with an airfield ablaze at present, adding that subsequent evacuation was carried out for the surrounding population. He did not mention the base at all; however, it is the only airfield in the area.
Engels district head Maxim Leonov told Reuters that a local state of emergency had been declared but gave few details. Reuters could not independently verify what took place at the airfield.
Ukraine has executed previous attacks at the Engels air base beginning in December 2022. In January, it claimed to have targeted an oil depot that served the base, which burned for five days before being extinguished.
A source from the Ukrainian security at that time claimed a drone attack hit the storage facility at the base of Engels that held guided bombs and missiles.
Ukraine attacked an oil refinery in the city of Syzran in Russia's Samara region overnight, the regional governor was quoted by Reuters as saying.
He did not specify whether the refinery had been damaged. Baza and Mash Telegram channels reported that the attack caused a fire.
"Emergency services are working on the territory of the enterprise. According to preliminary information, there are no casualties," Vyacheslav Fedorishchev wrote on the Telegram messaging app.
'Defense ministry of Russia declared that air defense systems destroyed nine Ukrainian drones overnight - over Bryansk, Tatarstan and Tula regions as well as over the Black Sea.'
