More than 9,500 workers who handle everything ranging from federal lands to military veterans care were fired on Friday as part of US President Donald Trump and his advisor Elon Musk's bid to cut down bureaucracy in America radically.

Massive Federal Layoffs: More than 9,500 workers who handle everything ranging from federal lands to military veterans care were fired on Friday as part of US President Donald Trump and his advisor Elon Musk's bid to cut down bureaucracy in America radically.
The Department of Veterans Affairs, looking after healthcare to veterans, announced it had laid off over 1,000 employees still in their probationary period, while the US Forest Service planned to terminate more than 3,000 staff members.
The drive to terminate employees has thus far seen employees working in those in the Departments of Interior, Energy, Veteran Affairs, Agriculture and Health and Human Services being targeted, with a lot of them, but not always employees on probation in their first year of employment and with less protections for employment.

Certain agencies have been shut down in some cases, such as the watchdog independent of known as the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which also impacts those on fixed-term contracts.
The tax collection agency, the Internal Revenue Service, is planning to Trump Musk lay off drive thousands of employees next month, Reuters stated, in a report quoting 2 sources familiar with the issue. It could be an attempt to cut back on resources prior to the deadline of April 15 for Americans to submit their income tax returns.
This effort to cut the federal workforce is being led by billionaire Elon Musk, who heads the Department of Government Efficiency, marking a dramatic shift in federal employment policies.

On Tuesday, President Trump issued an executive order directing agency leaders to prepare for “large-scale reductions” in the federal workforce. This directive follows the administration’s earlier voluntary buyout program, which saw only 75,000 employees accept the offer.
The layoffs began on Thursday night when the Department of Veterans Affairs announced that more than 1,000 employees with less than two years of service would be dismissed.
