Manish Sisodia Granted Bail by Supreme Court in Delhi Excise Policy Case After 17 Months

Manish Sisodia was arrested for the infamous money laundering case by CBI on February 2023 he had been in lock-up for 17 months. He was arrested when the CBI filed a case about irregularities in the formulation and implementation of the new Delhi liquor policy, ED arrested the Delhi cabinet minister as they handle tax fraud cases, and after 2 days Manish Sisodia resigned from the cabinet.
He has been granted bail by the Supreme Court after 17 months on the 6th of August with no conditions but he has to submit his passport, he has to furnish Rs 2 lakh bail bonds, and report to police whenever he is required. ED and CBI were both against his bail.

The court said, “The Delhi High Court order is quashed and set aside. He is granted bail in both Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Central Bureau Of Investigation (CBI) cases”. Addressing the concern that he may flee away the court said. “It’s high time that trial and high courts realize the principle that bail is the rule and jail is an exception. He has deep roots in society and there is no chance he will flee the country,”
The court asked the ED and CBI how they felt that these cases would conclude. There were almost 493 witnesses in the cases and asked how long the case would take to conclude. The law officer representing the agencies said there were 8 important witness cases and declined the allegation by Sisodia that there was a delay in his case.

AAP leaders have been rejoicing since the news was out “I am very happy with Manish ji’s release. I hope he will now take the lead and steer the government in the right direction.” MP Swati Maliwal expressed her happiness on X for the release of Sisodia.
AAP leader Raghav Raghav Chadha posted “The whole country is happy today after Manish Sisodia ji, the hero of Delhi’s education revolution, got bail. I express my gratitude to the honourable Supreme Court from the bottom of my heart. Manish ji was kept behind the bars of the jail for 530 days. His crime was that he gave a better future to the children of the poor. Dear children, your Manish uncle is coming back.”
