Mahua Moitra Marries Former BJD MP Pinaki Misra in Private Ceremony in Germany

Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra of West Bengal has allegedly tied the knot with former Biju Janata Dal MP Pinaki Misra.

Reports say that the couple had a private wedding ceremony on May 3 in Germany. Moitra was previously married to Danish businessman Lars Brorson.

However, there have been no public statements about the marriage, and both leaders have not publicized the ceremony.

Moitra is one of the prominent faces of the Opposition known for her fiery speeches in the Parliament. She is currently serving her second term as an MP from Krishnanagar in West Bengal. Prior to her stint in politics, Moitra was an investment banker.

In photos from the marriage ceremony that surfaced in India Today, the couple is smiling while Moitra is wearing gold jewellery. Nevertheless, the political parties she and Misra are from i.e. Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) have not made a statement on the news.

Who is Pinaki Misra?

1. Born in 1959 and currently 64-year-old, Misra is an eminent member of the Supreme Court as a senior advocate; he represented Moitra at the Supreme Court as counsel.

2. Misra graduated from Delhi University with a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) before continuing onto a political career.

3. At present he is the MP from the Puri constituency as a member of the BJD. In Parliament, he is a member of Committees such as the Standing Committee on Finance, the Business Advisory Committee, and several more significant panels.

4. He is a four-time MP and won his first Lok Sabha election from the Puri constituency in 1996 on a Congress ticket against former union minister Braja Kishore Tripathy. He has renewed representation in the 2009, 2014 and 2019 elections.

5. He was previously married and is a father through his former marriage to Sangita Misra with one son and one daughter to his former wife.
