Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 Live Updates: More than 600,000 devotees have gathered for the sacred river festival on Monday at Prayagraj, a holy city in the north of India, according to the first reports received since Kumbh Mela began. The auspicious bathing ceremony, the first Shahi Snan of Mhakumbh, is being held this year on the Paush Purnima (full moon in the month of Paush).

Praveen Khandelwal, General Secretary of CAIT, said that ahsar of huge-scale economy and trade activities would be felt during the spiritual fest.

This is the Third Mauni Amavasya and the First Amrit Sanan in Haridwar Mahakumbh 2021 on February 11.

Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar said that the rush of devotees had been so overwhelming that around 1 crore devotees took a holy dip in the Sangam area itself till midnight on the first ‘amrit snan’ day. The presence of payers were really marked to be around the edge of overflowing, while multiplex security were also flagged and firmly placed at the border of their location where this event occurred.

“Till now, we have received no information about any unpleasant incident taking place in the Prayagraj area and the state. Our all senior officials and the CMO office are monitoring the situation. All arrangements made by the Transport department for devotees coming by road are also operating smoothly," he assured.
