Lok Sabha Elections Phase 1 2024 Updates: Approx 25% Voter Turnout Till 11 AM

Lok Sabha Elections Phase 1 2024 Updates: As of April 19, the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections for 2024 took place in 102 constituencies across 17 states and four union territories.

Nitin Gadkari, Kiren Rijiju, Sarbanada Sonowal, Jitendra Singh, and Bhupendra Yadav are among the key candidates, along with Gaurav Gogoi from the Congress, Kanimozhi from the DMK, and K. Annamalai from the Tamil Nadu BJP.

The largest number of seats in the first phase is from southern India, with 39 seats from Tamil Nadu and one from Puducherry. To gain a foothold in the state, the BJP visited the state several times during campaigning.

There are, however, two leading contenders, the Dravidian majors, the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and AIADMK.

At nearly 2 lakh polling stations, 16.63 crore voters will cast their ballots, including over 8 crore men and women.

In 2019, the UPA had won 45 of the 102 seats at stake on Friday, and the NDA 41. Six seats have been redrawn as part of the delimitation process.

From April 19 to June 1, 543 members of the 18th Lok Sabha will be elected in seven phases. Results will be announced on June 4.

In the first four hours of voting in western Uttar Pradesh's first phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, there was an average voter turnout of 25.20 percent.

In order to file his nomination for the Gujarat Lok Sabha seat of Gandhinagar, Union Home Minister Amit Shah leaves Ahmedabad.

"BJP does not find a place in Tamil Nadu," says K Kanimozhi

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader Kanimozhi said here that the fight is "clearly" between the DMK and AIADMK since the "BJP does not find space in Tamil Nadu."

"In Tamil Nadu, I do not even think they (BJP) will come in second place. The fight is clearly between DMMK and AIADMK. BJP does not find space here. BJP is not even contesting in Thoothukudi. In Tamil Nadu, INDIA alliance will get 39 seats and 1 seat in Puducherry," she said.

"Kamal ka phool" is sure to bloom in Arunachal Pradesh this time and the BJP will win both Lok Sabha seats, according to Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu.

A stronger majority is sought by the BJP-led NDA under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while the opposition INDIA bloc hopes for a rebound after facing defeats in 2014 and 2019.
