Lok Sabha Elections Phase 1 2024 Updates: As of April 19, the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections for 2024 took place in 102 constituencies across 17 states and four union territories.
Nitin Gadkari, Kiren Rijiju, Sarbanada Sonowal, Jitendra Singh, and Bhupendra Yadav are among the key candidates, along with Gaurav Gogoi from the Congress, Kanimozhi from the DMK, and K. Annamalai from the Tamil Nadu BJP.
The largest number of seats in the first phase is from southern India, with 39 seats from Tamil Nadu and one from Puducherry. To gain a foothold in the state, the BJP visited the state several times during campaigning.

"BJP does not find a place in Tamil Nadu," says K Kanimozhi
Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam leader Kanimozhi said here that the fight is "clearly" between the DMK and AIADMK since the "BJP does not find space in Tamil Nadu."
"In Tamil Nadu, I do not even think they (BJP) will come in second place. The fight is clearly between DMMK and AIADMK. BJP does not find space here. BJP is not even contesting in Thoothukudi. In Tamil Nadu, INDIA alliance will get 39 seats and 1 seat in Puducherry," she said.
"Kamal ka phool" is sure to bloom in Arunachal Pradesh this time and the BJP will win both Lok Sabha seats, according to Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu.
A stronger majority is sought by the BJP-led NDA under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while the opposition INDIA bloc hopes for a rebound after facing defeats in 2014 and 2019.
