Smriti Irani Files Nomination Papers from Amethi: On Monday, Union Minister for Women and Child Development Smriti Ir filed her nomination papers for the Amethi Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh, expressing confidence that people will vote for the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Before filing her papers, Irani was accompanied by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and other party leaders.
As ordered by the district magistrate, the road show was stopped about 200 metres from the collectorate.
"For the service of Amethi, I have filed my nomination today. In the last 5 years in Amethi, 1,14,000 houses have been built under PM Awas Yojana, 1.5 lakh families received electricity connections and over 4 lakh farmers received PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi...I am hopeful that people will bless PM Modi, BJP," she told reporters after filing her nomination papers.
On May 20, Amethi will vote in the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections.

As the roadshow passed through Amethi roads, people showedered flower petals. Smriti Irani had earlier held a puja at her residence.
On the day before filing her nomination papers, Irani rode a scooter around Amethi to meet people.
The roadshow was also attended by Uttar Pradesh minister Mayankashwar Sharan Singh and Irani's husband Zubin Irani.
By defeating Rahul Gandhi in 2019, Irani won the seat, considered a stronghold of the Gandhi family.
Rahul Gandhi is believed by partymen here to be running from the seat again, although the Congress has not yet announced its candidate.
Within two days, Congress general secretary KC Venugopal said the party will release its next list of Lok Sabha candidates, including for Uttar Pradesh's pending seats.
