Kangana Ranaut Reflects on Calling Out Rape Culture: Kangana Ranaut was quite aggressive over the Hema Committee’s report on the sexual exploitation and utmost discrimination that women face during working in the Malayalam film industry.
However, to such defaming of the actors and making of questionable movies, Kangana observed that she has been talking about such subjects for years but has not been heard.
She also complained to the ladies in the business of singing item songs instead of taking the responsibility of their work.
During an interview with India Today, Kangana was asked whether the rape culture in the Kerala film industry is present in all the industries.

To which, she responded, “I have nothing to say about the industry, it is a hopeless place. I have put everything at stake from my career to my choices. I have two cases on me. I have started the MeToo movement which did not go anywhere by the way.”
“I started the parallel feminist cinema but these women attacked me! These women who get to do these films for me because I actively fought for pay parity. I didn't do Khan films, Kapoor films, Kumar films. When my film Emergency does well they are in hiding.”
“Ten years ago, you can see mine and Aamir Khan's episode of Satyamev Jayate. I am calling them out for their screenplays where girl is saying ‘No, no, no!’ but boy is saying ‘Yes, yes, yes!’ I am calling out the rape culture, item numbers.”
She further added, “Maine sab ko dushman bana liya apna (I have made everyone my enemy). Where do we end up now? Same kind of sexist cinema, promoting violence on women is doing better than ever!”
For the item-number dance-bowl performances, the actress came down heavily on the girls involved in it. Still about the report about Kerala, kangana has stated she is disappointed with what has been achieved claiming she has tried so much to change this but to no avail.
She thought that, the report influenced her life in some ways, especially in the cases of safety for the female gender. She also like other Indian women of her kind criticized girls who participate in item numbers and do not seem to take any responsibility to cover the sexual appeal for young women body.

She also spoke in detail how it pains her when some women do not support other women especially their work. She said it is women she has felt most disappointed in, with some asking what her fights are fought for, if only for herself.
What angered the actress was that she lost so many opportunities for financial gains, missed opportunities and even failure to have her brand out there since no one was there to support it. All in all, she is much disillusioned with these women.
In terms of work, Kangana’s next project is ‘Emergency’ where she will be presenting Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi. This film has not only been written by her but she has also directed the same.
The film also stars Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair and Satish Kaushik in the important characters. It will is expected to be released in cinemas starting September 6.
