Jimmy Fallon Trolls Trump’s India Tariff Move: Jimmy Fallon went after US President Donald Trump’s new tariffs on India, Brazil and Canada, and even threw in a shot at Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Today, more of President Trump’s tariffs hit over 90 countries, including Canada, Brazil, and India. The only places Trump didn’t charge are North Korea and Epstein’s island," said Fallon on The Tonight Show.
Fallon referenced Trump’s ties to the financier in the recent Wall Street Journal exposé.
The Wall Street Journal recently published a story that President Trump signed a birthday card to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Trump has denied it and sued Rupert Murdoch, the Wall Street Journal and NewsCorp saying the article relied on “sources that don’t even exist.”

While warning about the repercussions of a trade war with Brazil, the 'The Tonight Show' host added, "Fifty per cent tariffs on Brazil will skyrocket prices for bananas, mangoes, and pineapples. Edible arrangements are safe, as long as you don’t hike the price of cantaloupe and long toothpicks. Even toilet paper’s going to cost more, and you know it’s bad when people come out of the bathroom like, 'Hey, where’s that long CVS receipt?'"
Earlier Trump hit India with a 25% tariff after the country refused to stop oil trade with Russia, a long time partner. The new order hasn’t been signed yet but will be effective 21 days after the announcement unless revoked. This puts India alongside Brazil which already has a 50% tariff. Brazil’s 40% tariff was in response to the prosecution of former President Jair Bolsonaro.

On his show Fallon read a headline that said Donald Trump set a deadline for Russia to end the war in Ukraine. Reacting to the news, he jokingly said, "Right under building a new ballroom to meet Sydney Sweeney."
The ‘Anyone But You’ actor is getting heat for her recent American Eagle jeans ad where the brand made a pun on “genes” and “jeans”. The choice of words in the ad commercial has been criticized for promoting Nazi propaganda and racism. Trump supported her after finding out she was a Republican and even tweeted “the hottest ad”.
Then Fallon said Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to meet Trump next week and all the other leaders are looking at Trump like “Oo, you’re in trouble”. Earlier Trump said he was willing to talk to Putin. But the Kremlin has repeatedly said they won’t meet Trump with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. On Thursday the Kremlin said they would only meet Trump without Zelenskyy as a condition for the US-Russia summit.
Fallon is known for his jokes about celebrities and pop culture. His show is lighthearted with occasional political and social commentary. Actor Priyanka Chopra who transitioned from Bollywood to Hollywood has also been on his show.
Fallon’s monologue was a day after Trump dissed Fallon and Kimmel and gloated over Stephen Colbert’s exit.
