Jharkhand Polls Phase 2: Richest Candidate Holds Assets Worth Over ₹400 Crore

Jharkhand Polls Phase 2: The richest candidate in the Phase 2 of Jharkhand Assembly election 2024, scheduled to be held on November 20, has declared assets worth more than ₹400 crores, while the one who has the least amount declared declares has made a declaration of ₹100.

Counting for the 81-seat Jharkhand Assembly elections will take place on November 23, simultaneously with that for the Maharashtra election 2024. The term of the Jharkhand Assembly ends on January 5 next year.
The phase two of Jharkhand polls will see dozens of crorepatis contend for the electoral battle for seats to form the next government.
Jharkhand elections: Richest candidate of Phase 2
According to an ADR report, among the Phase 2 candidate who has the declared highest assets amounting to more than ₹400 crores, the Samajwadi Party's (SP) Pakur nominee Aquil Akhtar tops the list.
Akhtar has declared movable assets worth almost a crore - that amounts to ₹99,51,816. But his immovable assets amount to more than ₹400 crore- ₹4,02,00,00,000.

Next in the list is SP's Aquil Akhtar, who is contesting the polls from the Dhanwar seat as an independent candidate and has declared assets worth more than ₹137 crore. Aazad Samaj Party's (Kanshi Ram) Dhanwar candidate Mihammad Danish stands at the third spot, having declared assets worth more than ₹32 crore.
Meanwhile, Niranjan Rai is also the candidate with highest income declared in ITR -- ₹15 crore -- with his source of income listed as business.
Jharkhand Peoples Party Elian Hansdak contesting from Maheshpur (ST) constituency has declared zero assets.
According to the ADR release, 127 or 24 per cent of the 522 candidates contesting the Phase 2 of Jharkhand Assembly elections are crorepatis.
The ADR report shows that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has reeled in the maximum number of crorepati candidates - 32 - for Phase 2, followed by Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Congress, and others. However, when 72 per cent of BJP's Phase 2 candidates are crorepatis, it is 90 per cent for JMM and 83 per cent for Congress.
