Krishna was the 8th Son of Devki and Vasudev According to Hindu scriptures the was a future prediction that one of Devki's sons would kill her brother and her brother was Kans the ruler of Asura and Lanka who captured and trapped Devki and her Husband. Krishna was born in prison after the 7 children of Devki got killed by their Uncle.

The Day Krishna was born the guards fell asleep and Vasudev sent Krishna across Jamuna to Vrindavan in the care of his Foster parents Yashoda and Nanda. This day is celebrated as Janmashtami by keeping fasts, singing devotional songs of love for Krishna, and keeping a vigil into the night.

Puja Samagri
You will need a Banana leaf to put a Krishna photo and ingredients that are rose, wheat, rice, red lotus flowers, incense sticks, agarbatti, kumkum, abir, gulal, kesar, kapur, sindoor, Chandan, yagyopavit 5, akshat, paan leaves, supari, pushmala, haldi, cotton, tulsi mala, kamal gatta, Ganga Jal, honey, dhaniya, panch meva, sugar, cow ghee, cow milk, rituphal, and cardamom for the Puja.
Rituals to Celebrate
You can keep a nirjala vrat or a phalahar fast which is broken at midnight. wear traditional clothes and be at your best look and decorate the Krishna Idol.
